There is no clear-cut definition of Leadership. For years, management thinkers have put forward competing definitions, theories and gurus, most of which promote either a “silver bullet” solution suited to particular circumstances or some vague definition that, in any cases, leave the reader confused, with no clear understanding of what leadership is, how to apply it or even if the effort is worthwhile. Without suggesting that we have the definitive answer, we present here a summary of the concepts that may help to demystify that highly desirable attribute called ‘leadership’ and, by extension, offer some practical advice on becoming a ‘leader’.
